Exciting updates from The Royal Livingstone Hotel by Anantara
What’s the ultimate African holiday? How about a “Bush to Beach” circuit that includes Victoria Falls, Kruger National Park, and an Indian Ocean paradise island.
With Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg as your gateway, the first leg takes you to Anantara’s Bazaruto Island Resort off the coast of Mozambique.
From your luxury beach or poolside villa, sample all sorts of adventures — scuba diving the pristine marine reserve, watching humpback migrate along the coast, visiting with local fisherman, watching sunset from the crest of a giant sand dune, and then relishing the resort’s mouthwatering blend of local and global flavors.
From nearby Vilanculos Airport, it’s a short flight (1.5 hours) to Nelspruit airport in Mbombela on the southern edge of the Kruger.
Rent a vehicle and explore one of the world’s leading national parks on your own or bivouac at one of the luxury tented camps that surrounded the giant game reserve. Although it boasts more than a thousand animal species, Kruger is best known as a refuge for the Big Five.
Last but not least — Victoria Falls on the Zambezi River — and a stay at Anantara’s posh Royal Livingstone Hotel on the Zambia side of Africa’s greatest water wonder.
Spike your heart rate with a helicopter or microlight flight over the falls, a bungee jump from the towering Vic Falls Bridge or a roller-coaster whitewater rafting trip through the Zambezi Gorge before a riverside massage and a romantic al fresco meal at the Royal Livingstone.
Let the wonders of Victoria Falls enrich your stay at Royal Livingstone hotel. Choose from a number of activities that revolve around the world’s greatest waterfall.
Helicopter/microlight: Gaze down on the mighty cascade and the Zambezi River from the air.
Sunset cruise: Sail along the Zambezi River between Zambia and Zimbabwe as the sun sets over the African wilderness.
Culture tours: Explore the nearby town of Livingstone including a rare collection of explorer David Livingstone’s personal belongings.
Livingstone Island and the Devil’s Pool: Experience the ultimate adrenalin rush on an island in the middle of the Zambezi River where the water tumbles over Victoria Falls.
Game drive: Get up close and personal with African wildlife during an open-top 4×4 drive through Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park.
Whitewater rafting: Join a roller-coaster rafting ride through the rapids of the Zambezi Gorge below the falls.
Canoeing safari: Follow in the footsteps of famous explorer David Livingstone with a paddle in search of bird life and other animals on the Upper Zambezi.
Bungee jumping: Take a giant leap of faith of the side of the 111-meter-tall Victoria Falls Bridge between Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Victoria Falls is pretty awesome all on its own. But when you combine the legendary cascade with some of the exceptional experiences on offer at The Royal Livingstone resort, you’re looking at the best day ever in Africa.
Start your day with a adrenaline-pumping helicopter or microlight flight over the famous falls, its deep gorge and along the Zambezi River. Hippos and crocodiles are clearly visible from the air, as are the elephants grazing on the bright-green islands upstream from the falls. Follow that up with a luxury spa treatment on the banks of the Zambezi River. The menu at Anantara Livingstone Spa offers an array of authentic African therapies, as well as classic Western treatments that promote wellbeing throughout your body. All of this undertaken in outdoor treatment gazebos with lush garden and river views, followed by a sojourn in the spa’s riverside relaxation lounge with healthy cuisine on request.
After dark, indulge yourself with a romantic (and very private) “Dining by Design” gourmet dinner on an elegantly decorated riverside deck or beneath a monkey tree overlooking the Zambezi. Mediterranean, Asian and African flavors are all on offer as you select the perfect sequence for your gourmet experience in collaboration with your personal chef.
